Why I’m Writing These

We met in the mountains, in the communications department of a small university in the Cordillera. That was where we first learned how to put our thoughts into writing.

I always tease you that I’m the better writer and that you’re just my editor. But the truth is, neither of us really likes writing. We tend to reserve it for certain moments. Maybe because it takes effort, or maybe because we’ve both fallen out of love with it.

But I do know one thing—you’ve always kept the letters I’ve written to you. Even our wedding vows. We go back to them during difficult times, not just to remember what we promised, but to remind ourselves that we’re okay, and that we’ve made it through before.

Now we’re on the verge of a big life change, and it feels like the right time to start writing again. While things are still fresh, and while we still have a clear sense of what’s happening around us, this feels like a good moment to document things as they are.

So with this project, I’m committing to writing more. So you have something to look back on. Something you can read again and again, and see where we were at a certain point in our lives.

Please bear with me as I try to get back into this. As I relearn how to write and figure out how to say things better.

Hopefully, through this, I get better at writing again, and you start picking up reading the way you used to.
